The recent U.S. Census projection of growth for the next 20 to 30 years provided great insight into how the customer base is changing. The two demographic groups projected to grow significantly are Latinx/Hispanic and Seniors (65+). This may not be new information to many ski areas but is worth taking note of.
How will your ski area respond to this information? Consider embracing both these groups in ways you are not already. Do you have LatinX/Hispanic imagery in your consumer facing products? Have you increased your mid-week programming to appeal to the over 65 group that frequently are not encumbered by 9-5 jobs or school aged children?
Start thinking now how this census data will help describe your future customer and what initiatives you will put in place over the next 3-5 years. Your bottom line depends on it.
